Portrait Poem

Sofia
Tall, intelligent, innocent, absent-minded,
Firstborn of Carolina and Rodrigo,
Likes reading, writing, Ellen,
Feels alone since she moved her,
Afraid of wasting her life,
Would like to see Outer Space,
Gonzalez

Simile and Metaphor Poem

http://cache.tokyotimes.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/3/files/2013/02/cherry_blossom_.jpg

Cherry Blossom

 Cherry Blossom,
Pink like the sweetest cotton candy,
Gently dancing in the wind,
Like a group of soft pink clouds,
In a peaceful state of mind.

Symbol of life,
Symbol of mortality,
Symbol of the ephemeral nature of life,
Omen of humanity.

Cherry Blossom,
 Ephemeral Beauty,
You are a sunset,
You are a rainbow,
You bloom,
You amaze,
You are gone.

Pink: Simile            Purple: Metaphor

2. I really like cherry blossoms, I think they are beautiful trees and I like that they represent  mono no aware, this is the Japanese term that means awareness that life is short, as these trees don't live long. These trees have been used to represent mortality. I wish I could have included more figurative language, but I didn't know how. I'd like to make it longer and to use more metaphors.

Similes and Mataphors in Songs

River Deep, Mountain High by Tina Turner: I chose this song because it has many similes. It compares how much she loves someone how much a flower loves the spring, for example.

Stuck like Glue by Sugarland: This song uses similes and metaphors to describe how a person feels around and about someone else.

Halo by Beyonce: This song uses metaphors and similes to describe what it feels like to be open with someone.

The Best Day Poem

The Best Day Poem

The sun was shinning,

The birds were singing,

Today was going to be magic,

I couldn't felt thinking.

I was with my family,

In a magical place,

Where dreams come true,

Why, it was Walt Disney World.
