Line Break Station Reflection

Why Are Your Poems So Dark?
Linda Pastan
Isn’t the moon dark too,
most of the time?
And doesn’t the white page
seem unfinished
without the dark stain
of alphabets?
When God demanded light,
he didn’t banish darkness.
Instead he invented
ebony and crows
and that small mole
on your left cheekbone.
Or did you mean to ask
“Why are you sad so often?”
Ask the moon.
Ask what it has witnessed.

1. They looked pretty similar, only some lines are longer, like the one about the white page and dark stain.

2. Because it gives it a special meaning, it makes it more dramatic and sets the mood. It gives it personality and feeling.

3. I think I could do better to add more personality and feeling. My lines are too long, I should try to use more white space.
